Whether starting from scratch or running an 8 figure business - there's always a next level.
So everybody's stuck SOMEWHERE...
What most don't know is:
There are only 5 PLACES to get stuck.
And in those places, there are only 4 WAYS to get stuck.
Here's how to find your bottleneck:
VALVES
You can think of these 5 areas as "valves" your energy flows through.
If one is 50% blocked, and the next is 30% blocked, and the third is 45% blocked.. .. you have VERY LITTLE energy flowing through your energy system.
You might feel like you're living in a constant fog of confusion. You end up being very reactive and emotionally sensitive.
What are the 5 valves?
TIME
ENERGY
MONEY
SELF WORTH (how you see yourself)
REPUTATION (how others see you)
Here's what I realized:
When you experience any negative emotion, it's because you feel like 1 or more of these areas are UNDER THREAT.
It's why prison is such an awful punishment. You strip someone naked in all 5 areas at once.
These same 5 things are also what everyone wants MORE of.
Whenever you buy something, it's because you believe it's going to help you move either…
from NOT-OKAY to OKAY
or,
from OKAY to THRIVING
… in one of these areas.
These are ALSO the 5 things you RISK whenever you buy something.
For example:
If someone's selling you a $5k course on how to make more money...
You're not just risking the cash. (MONEY)
But also the TIME + ENERGY that you will put into it…
On top of that, there’s the risk of feeling like a loser if you fail. (SELF WORTH)
… as well as what your wife is gonna think of you if this shit doesn't pan out. (REPUTATION)
OK - those are the 5 valves.
Now, there are 4 ways the valves get clogged up:
Clog #1: POSSIBILITY/CAPABILITY
There is some belief that the desired outcome, is for whatever reason either NOT POSSIBLE or YOU DON'T HAVE WHAT IT TAKES.
For example - you wanna make a million bucks, but you don't believe you are CAPABLE of doing the things that are required to make a million bucks.
Good luck trying to do something you believe you will fail at.
If your mind perceives a disaster could happen if you take XYZ action - there will be immediate & automatic resistance to taking that action.
Most people feel that resistance and assume they're lazy and undisciplined...
But what they're really feeling is the tug of war between DESIRE AND BELIEF pulling in opposite directions.
Clog #2: MISTAKEN IDENTITY
This is where you mistake WHAT YOU DO for WHO YOU ARE.
There's a guy in your room, snapping his fingers.
"Bro, please, can you stop snapping your fingers for ONE MINUTE??"
"Sorry man, I can't - it's just who I am."
This is a ridiculous example, but we do this all the time.
"I can't get up early, I'm a night owl."
"I can't go to the gym, I'm lazy and undisciplined."
"I can't do XYZ, I'm just not that kind of person."
So this applies either when you can't STOP doing something because you believe it's "just who you are" OR When you think you can't do something because you believe that "who you are" is not compatible with that behavior.
Clog #3: FALSE REQUIREMENT
A lot of people believe they need to "be more motivated" in order to be successful.
A lot of people believe they need to "have a big audience" in order to make money.
A lot of people believe they need to do cold showers & bio-hack every minute of their day to become the person they wanna be.
All of these are examples of where you've placed FALSE BARRIERS in between you and success.
You believe something is required to get what you want... that isn't actually a requirement.
A good way to chase your tail for years without getting anywhere.
Clog #4: BACKWARD ORIENTATION
This is when you’re trying to MOVE FORWARD by navigating according to what you’re trying to AVOID.
It’s when you’re driving down the road thinking "don't hit the light pole"…
… instead of keeping your eyes on the road.
Trying to make money so you can avoid being broke.
Trying to lose weight so you can avoid being fat.
Trying to get a relationship so you can avoid being lonely.
That’s backward orientation.
Most of us have painful memories we’re really trying to avoid happening again.
Problem is… whatever you’re trying to avoid becomes more likely to happen…
... and what you WANT moves further away from you.
I’ve been using this framework in my coaching practice recently and I’ve found it SHOCKINGLY effective at quickly figuring out where & how someone is stuck so they can quickly move to the next level.
I hope it helps.
