When you're absolutely sure about something, you're more likely to be wrong.

The only way to be absolutely certain about most things is to limit the number of data points considered. There are almost always data points you haven't considered. There are almost always things you don't know that you don't know.

So if you find yourself being confused a lot… good news! You're taking in a lot of data points. You just haven't figured out how it all fits together yet. Much better than sticking to what you think you know for sure and basing your decisions on that.

In my experience, you'll make better decisions when you have a vague sense of right-ness rather than absolute certainty.

Most of the time that I've been 100% sure about something, I've been wrong.
