RCI: 3 Subtle Keys To Releasing Painful Emotional States
[ Advanced Emotional Mechanics, Part 3 ]
Today I would like to introduce you to one of my most USEFUL tools: RCI.
RCI stands for Resistance, Control, and Identification.
Whenever something happens that triggers an uncomfortable, stressful, or painful emotion, what usually happens is…
First, we RESIST it.
Let’s say you feel some anger bubbling up…
Then, because of a belief that being angry is somehow BAD… perhaps because you’ve created an identity around being a “good person” who does not display anger…
… we immediately resist the feeling.
So then, we try to CONTROL it. We try to push it back down. Avoid it. Escape from it. Do something, anything, with or about the feeling.
And the reason we try to resist & control our feelings is because we feel like they MEAN something about WHO WE ARE.
In other words, we identify with the feeling.
You’d say “I AM angry” rather than “I FEEL angry.”
We think we are our emotions, at the same time that we resist them and refuse to acknowledge them as our own.
And this is why we keep looping on painful thoughts and feelings.
In this video I will guide you through a releasing session going through each of these 3 aspects so you can directly experience this for yourself.
Understanding RCI is an absolute game changer when it comes to being able to process & release emotions.
