If You Knew What Your Real Problems Were, You Would Have Already Solved Them
This is true for everyone all the time.
For example, if you're trying to get in shape, you may think you just need the right workout routine and diet plan.
But you probably already know WHAT to do.
You probably already have all kinds of things that you "know would work if only you did it."
So why aren't you doing it?
Now we are getting closer to the real problem.
Is it a lack of motivation?
Well, you already told me you wanted to get in shape. The desire is there.
A lack of discipline?
What does that even mean?
Does it feel like there is an invisible barrier of resistance that you have to force yourself over in order to get yourself do the things you want to do?
Why do you feel that resistance when it comes to dragging your ass to the gym, but not when it comes to brushing your teeth?
The answer might seem obvious, but maybe it isn't.
We all do some things every day with perfect consistency, no discipline required.
But not other things - the things that truly matter to us.
Isn't that a bit fucked?
What are all the things that make up the GAP between where you are and where you want to be...
... and between who you are and who you want to be?
This begins with your patterns of thinking and feeling, which then flows outwards through all your choices and actions you take.
This is why my approach to coaching is based on questions.
Maybe you think you need is to get yourself to be more disciplined, but maybe you need to ask yourself why you think discipline is required to begin with.
I'm not saying it is or isn't, but you should investigate this for yourself.
When you get to the root of a problem, you see that it never was a problem. Smoke and mirrors created by confused thoughts.
This is not the kind of process where someone else can hand you the answers.
All anyone can do is ask you the right questions that allow you to find your own answers.
Any growth is a result of boldly, consciously stepping into the unknown.
I can point the way, but you gotta do the steppin’ part.
All true lessons emerge from within.
They are not for others to give you.
They are yours to discover and gift to yourself as you courageously explore and investigate your internal world.
